About S H S - Health Matters
When I set out to create The Self Help Sphere sites my intention was simply to provide a ‘forum’ where people who chose to could find valuable and accurate information, tips and recommendations which would assist them in designing the life they truly desire for body, mind and soul.
The web is an incredible resource for free information and for finding unbelievably generous people. There are however plenty of places in the web where you can easily be mislead and ‘conned’ as it were – why can’t everyone just get along?:-)
So in order to try and sift through all the noise out there I have turned to people who are able to research effectively and provide information in as clear a manner as possible.
In the context of natural health and nutrition I have had the great opportunity to work with Melanie Lamprecht over the past year to assist me in putting together valuable (and dare I say vital) information you can use to ensure you take good care of yourself and your family. The knowledge and passion she has with regard to natural health, nutrition and fitness has actual lead to having her as a more permanent contributor to this site.
Pretty much all of us do some terribly bad things to our bodies throughout our lifetime. I am always amazed at what an incredible masterpiece it is - how we are able to do the things we are capable of doing with it and how it functions and protects us the way it does even though we take it all for granted.
Now I have to just say that I am one of those people who believe life is meant to be lived! Which means, there is always room for a good cup of coffee or some chocolate cake…. or both:-)
The truth is that there is no magic pill or quick fix when it comes to health and nutrition despite us being preyed upon by those who would have us believe otherwise. There are always going to be advances in science and we will learn more about our bodies and minds in the future but
Two things are true and they’ve been true for centuries - EVERYTHING IN MODERATION and ‘AN APPLE A DAY….’ - - All we will ever need to keep us healthy and in good shape is provided by this wonderful place we call home. Eat healthy foods and exercise a bit and you can enjoy the occasional pizza, chocolate cake or cappuccino…..with extra cream.
With that being said, we do have to teach ourselves just what is healthy for us and how to get into good habits so we can maximize the potential our bodies have so we can squeeze every ounce of fun that life has to offer.

After a successful career in teaching, Melanie decided to follow her heart and set a new course for her professional and personal life.
Applying principles similar to those she taught in the medical field, she manifested what she calls her ’special marvels,’ a series of short published articles that led her to an unexpected motivating response from needy readers and the desire to earn a Master in Training from Australian Institute of Fitness.
Ever since, her personal life mission has been to empower others to achieve and exceed their dreams and goals.
Melanie is a certified personal trainer and is now fulfilling her life mission at Fitness First by offering exercise-based programs for people who are ready to experience their own ‘personal miracles’ and accomplish their aspirations.
She currently lives in Western Australia. She loves the ocean and in her spare time, she enjoys free riding the waves on her body-board, kite surfing and kayaking.
